This beautiful sarong was hand woven in the little village of Huay Pu Keng. Huay Pu Keng is an isolated village in the Jungles up in the Mae Hong Song district, Thailand. You can only get to Huay Pu Keng by boat. There is no electricity or signal in the little village and they rely on solar power.  The villagers rely on tourism to make money as a lot of the people in the village are refugees and do not have Thai ID’s. This means they cannot travel  outside of their villages. The Kayen women use hand looms to weave their clothes and it can take up to 2 weeks to make a Kayan sarong.
